TIA filed an Opposition to the Petition for Partial Reconsideration of the Association of Global Automakers in the FCC’s 5 GHz proceeding.

TIA congratulated three TIA-affiliated leaders for receiving 2014 ANSI Leadership and Service Awards.  The awards recognize those in the ICT industry who have made significant contributions to national and international standardization activities and demonstrated an ongoing commitment to both the industry and the global, voluntary standards system. 

TIA announced today that oneM2M’s initial Candidate Release of Technical Specifications is now open for public comment.  TIA is a founding member of oneM2M, the global partnership dedicated to developing standards for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications and Internet-of-Things (IoT).

TIA filed comments with the House Energy & Commerce Committee on their interconnection policy white paper. The Committee has issued a series of white papers as initial steps toward modernizing the laws governing the communications and technology sector and has also solicited input from stakeholders.

TIA announced that its TR-42.1 Engineering Committee on Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling is developing an American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited standard, known as TIA-5017, to address the physical network security of information and communications technology (ICT) networks.  

TIA applauded Representatives Mike Thompson (D-CA)  and Gregg Harper (R-MS) for their bipartisan introduction of the Medicare Telehealth Parity Act of 2014. 

The 18^th meeting of the Global Standards Collaboration (GSC), a senior-level gathering of the world’s leading information and communication technologies (ICT) standards organizations, took place on 22 - 23 July 2014, hosted by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) in Sophia Antipolis, France.

TIA applauded U.S. Reps. Bob Latta (R-OH) and Peter Welch (D-VT) for their bipartisan introduction of the Enhance Labeling, Accessing, and Branding of Electronic Licenses Act of 2014 (E-LABEL Act), which is also pending in the Senate.to use eLabels, the legislation will ease the technical and logistical burdens on manufacturers while improving consumer access to important device information.
