Arlington, VA (June 17, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in response to the inquiry into the major 911 outage in Washington State on April 9-10, 2014. 

TIA filed comments with the House Energy & Commerce Committee on their competition policy white paper. The Committee has issued a series of white papers as initial steps toward modernizing the laws governing the communications and technology sector and has also solicited input from stakeholders.

TIA announced the availability of an extensive line-up of videos from its recently concluded Network of the Future Conference.  The videos include keynote presentations and in-depth interviews with top ICT executives who discuss the critical network topics that were at the center of TIA’s three-day conference in Dallas, TX.

TIA joined a number of stakeholders in urging newly-confirmed Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell to take a technology-neutral approach towards a fully-connected health ICT ecosystem.

TIA applauded the appointment of Sue Swenson to chair the FirstNet Board.

TIA has filed comments with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) regarding proposed changes to OMB Circular A-119, Federal Participation in the Development and Use of Voluntary Consensus Standards and in Conformity Assessment Activities.
