TIA responded to yesterday’s federal appeals court decision striking down the FCC’s net neutrality rules.

TIA applauded the introduction of the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities Act of 2014. Introduced by the Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT), Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI), the Act would renew the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA).

TIA submitted to the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) input in response to the request for comment regarding compliance with telecommunications agreements. Under section 1377 of the Omnibus Trade and Competiveness Act of 1998, USTR reviews on an annual basis the operation, effectiveness, and implementation of, and compliance with, multilateral, bilateral, and regional trade agreements.

TIA applauded the voluntary industry agreement to improve the energy efficiency of set-top boxes and the Department of Energy’s (DOE) withdrawal of a rulemaking to mandate efficiency standards.

TIA announced today that it has joined with the Latin American Association of Research Centers and Telecommunication Enterprises in signing an Honorary and Friendship Agreement to promote further growth and development of the telecommunications industries of the United States and the world at large.

TIA announced the release of a new white paper, “Spectrum Sharing Research and Development.” TIA developed the white paper as part of its ongoing effort to find innovative ways of meeting the nation’s increasing demand for more available spectrum.

TIA submitted a letter on December 2 to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler in response to his plan to address the challenge of reforming processes to improve the efficiency of the FCC.
