TIA announced steps to bring success to the future of the data and communications industry by establishing a clear and concise lexicon for the design of data centers as they are planned, constructed and operated worldwide. Both the Uptime Institute and TIA believe that it is in the best interests of the industry to permanently differentiate their respective data center infrastructure benchmarking systems and going forward, TIA will revise the ANSI/TIA-942/TIA-942A Standard to remove the word ‘Tier.’

TIA announced its program for the TIA Network of the Future Conference. TIA 2014 is centered on three distinct program tracks that will offer an in-depth and interactive look at the issues critical to the network’s future: Wireless & 5G Networks; Software Defined Everything (SDx); and Markets & Services (including Big Data & Privacy).

TIA Applauds House of Representatives for Acting on FCC Process Reform

TIA announced that TIA 2014: The Network of the Future, the organization’s flagship conference, will be held June 3-5 in Dallas, TX. TIA also will present several conferences and workshops during the year covering a range of important issues, including 5G innovation, public policy, the connected car and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry financial trends.

TIA applauded President Obama for incorporating many of the items in TIA’s 2014 Innovation Agenda into his FY2015 budget proposal. The President’s budget wisely proposes to invest in many areas which are critical for the U.S. information and communications technology (ICT) industry.

TIA submitted input to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on its Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) addressing whether “accessibility features” include user display settings for closed captioning, and whether to require covered entities under the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 (CVAA) to ensure that consumers are able to locate and control these settings.

TIA submitted input to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on a petition for reconsideration submitted by various consumer groups questioning the analysis of the FCC’s rules for user interfaces on apparatus under the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 (CVAA) requirement.

TIA congratulates the FCC for undertaking a re-examination of regulations regarding in-flight cellular use.

TIA said today that the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) release of the Cybersecurity Framework represents an important milestone in implementing the President’s 2013 executive order. The Association worked with NIST to include critical TIA-developed standards in the Framework and has sought a flexible regulatory landscape that allows companies to effectively adapt to emerging threats.
